?Why drink beer

I am in Ireland, the land of leprechauns, legends, and … beer. Coincidentally, just before I left Israel, I learned that beer was called “watery bread” by the ancient Egyptians and that it actually is healthy. Anyhow, here I am, surrounded by story tellers with beer bellies, and green rainy fields (what happened to summer…?). The other day I was taken out to drink a pint of beer. Admittedly, I don’t really like beer nor did I finish my pint, (I would do better with coffee or chocolate), but for those of you who do, here are a few interesting points about beer.

Please remember: quality and moderation are key to everything in life.

Why drink beer?

Different Studies have revealed that good quality beer, on a regular basis and in moderation, is actually healthy:

First, make sure the beer is of a high quality and not made from rice or corn

Nutritional value: rich in minerals (magnesium, zinc, potassium), vitamins (especially of the B family), antioxidants (contains a similar amount of antioxidants as red wine, and much more than white wine), and carbohydrates

Improves blood circulation and blood vessel dilation, therefore may lower
rate of coronary heart disease and reduce chances of strokes

A rich source of silicon, may help prevent osteoporosis

Alcohol has been attributed with the ability to increase the amount of
good cholesterol (HDL)
in the bloodstream as well as help decrease blood clots

Has a relaxing effect on the body thereby may reduce stress and aid in sleep
May lower risk of diabetes

with acknowledgement to essortment

It is also “not too bad” as a mood booster (I have noticed that when you ask an Irish person how he is, he will often reply “Not too bad… Not too bad…”)

SuperFood Energy Balls
The best balls on the globe – yes, quite a statement.

Here is another amazing healthy snack to eat at home or on the go for a boost of energy - so easy to make,
healthy and soooo delicious.

In a food processor, blend dry ingredients:
1/3 cup cacao nibs
2 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Tbsp cacao powder
Pinch of sea salt

Add dried fruit and coconut oil and blend till it becomes a doughy consistency.
If needed, add a few more dates:
3/4 cup pitted dates
½ cup mulberries (or any other dried fruit)
1/3 cup goji berries
2-3 Tbsp coconut oil

Roll into balls and keep refrigerated
You may also add: nuts, hulled hemp seeds, bee pollen
and other superfoods: spirulina, maca, chlorella, mesquite, lucuma …
