December – My Winter Tip
It is onIy when you leave your land to live somewhere else that you realize how connected you really are.
(my quote this time)
Oh – it is so GREAT to be back home, in the beautiful Israeli “winter”.
I came back from Ireland a few weeks ago and I must admit that for me the Sun surpasses the beauty of green fields…
Living in a colder climate for the last few months made me creative in the kitchen. It isn’t that I spent more hours cooking - everything I cook is always very speedy and simple - but as far as my green smoothie and beautiful colorful green salads go, I realized they weren’t going hand in hand with the Irish climate. I had to go a bit wild in the kitchen in order to keep them in my diet.
So if you too love salads and green leaves, here are a few ideas how you can still incorporate them into your day during winter and cooler times of the year.

Warm Up Your Salad
Put warm food right on top of the salad. Make the salad the base and put the warm food whether it is whole grains, steamed\cooked vegetables, or other warm dishes, straight on the salad.
Make a Soulad (Soup + Salad)
Throw lots of greens into your soup, or even throw the whole salad into the soup.
Use Warming Condiments
There are certain ones which are known to warm you up. Add them to your salads, soups, smoothies and other dishes: cinnamon, turmeric, cayenne, cumin, ginger.
Smoothies
In colder weather I don’t use ice in my green smoothie, and if in the summer I load up my smoothie with greens, in the winter I use less of them.
