The Wedding Revolution - July 2012

We just had our second (and LAST!) wedding ceremony -  in Israel. This one too was small, organic and vegetarian.
It is unbelievable how people are so used to having chicken, beef and fish at weddings! We had none of those at ours and it was the most delicious food ever. Everyone was so happy and satisfied, without that after wedding heaviness. 

The wedding was catered and produced by Avital Sebbag and Nir Levi and I think the pictures speak for themselves...

Healthy in The City Of Lights



We went to Paris on a short honeymoon. I was very excited that on the way there ELAL offered a big salad as a main course (or eggs). I guess the airlines too are jumping on the healthy bus. Not that it was 100% healthy but it certainly is a step in the right direction.
On the way back the options were way less exciting: chicken or beef.

 

 

In Paris the men wore very pointy shoes and everyone smoked. With all the baguettes, cheeses and croissants it was harder to eat healthy. We were lucky that on our first day we stumbled by this wonderful food chain called JOUR that offers healthy dishes and amazing big salads:
you mix and match and make your own (they have 6 different bases, 42 different toppings and 8 different salad dressings).

I was surprised that even Diarmuid, my wonderful Pizza loving husband who when we met about two years ago was gobbling down bacon and eggs in Koh-Phangan, was the one who actually dragged me every day to have a big salad for lunch. JOUR was our savior! 



It always surprises me to see how people eat everything and leave their veggies. This is a common picture at the end of a meal. We ordered our big salads and baguettes in a little French restaurant near the Notre Dame and that is exactly what our French neighbors left on their plates from their scrambled eggs and fried toast. Astonishing!!

Eggplant and Zucchini Rolls
A recipe from the wedding


Ingredients for 22 rolls:
Zucchini
Eggplant
22 basil leaves
½ C Goats cheese or Nut cheese (macadamia or cashew)


Thinly slice the zucchini and eggplant and roast in oven
Cool and spread a teaspoon of cheese on each piece with one basil leaf and roll
You may add different condiments as desired
